Program Objective: This program is designed for individuals who have no previous tractor-trailer driving experience, prepares the student for CDL Temporary Permit Test, CDL Skills Test, and entry-level employment as a driver in the trucking industry.

Classroom Instruction consists of introducing students to the trucking industry, its regulations, laws, taxes, and standards. It prepares students for CDL Temporary Permit Test and covers a wide range of subjects to develop truck driving techniques, maneuvers, and safety awareness through instructors’ presentations accompanied by video demonstrations and student discussions. | |
Site Training | 76 hrs. |
Site Training consists of teaching students how to properly maintain their equipment, along with hands-on driving techniques and maneuvers introduced during classroom training. Backing maneuvers are practiced at an advanced level to better develop students’ driving skills. | |
City and Highway Driving | 48 hrs. |
City and Highway Driving enhances the students’ abilities to operate various types of equipment with different shifting patterns. Students will receive a minimum of 10 hours of instruction behind the wheel on the road to ensure driving skills necessary for proficient and safe operation of a tractor-trailer. | |
CDL Skills Examination Preparation | 40 hrs. |
Skills Examination Preparation consists of a mix of Site Training, City and Highway Driving and pre-trip inspections individualized to fit each student’s needs to best prepare the student to perform their best on the CDL skills examination. | |
